To support the development of skills of emerging leaders in the
field of artists' communities. This two part initiative will
include a peer-mentoring program and two regional meetings.
Brown University

$16,000
To support the commission, development and workshop of a new
play. Playwright Richard Wesley will write a new play entitled
Big Ideas that examines the black middle-class in the
post-Civil Rights era.
Everett Dance Theatre
Providence, RI
CATEGORY: Creativity FIELD/DISCIPLINE: Dance
$12,000
To support the creation of a new evening-length work focusing
on home and family. The piece will look at the stories of the
individual family to uncover universal themes such as mental
health, substance abuse, isolation and assimilation.

To support the commission and premiere of a piano concerto by
Richard Cumming. The work will be written for pianist John Browning
on the occasion of his 70th birthday in 2003.
Trinity Repertory Company

To support the world premiere of a new musical. Trinity Repertory
Company will produce The Long Christmas Ride Home by Paula Vogel.

To support the translation from French of Jean Grosjean's book
of poems, Terre du Temps. Born in 1912, Grosjean has
published more than a dozen books of poetry. His first book of
poems, Terre du Temps was published in 1946 and was awarded
the Prix de la Pleiade.
