Grants to Alabama
Alabama Conference of Theatre & Speech
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will serve 38 community theaters statewide and highlight existing talent, facilities, and resources by funding three comprehensive guides for shared use: 1) a directory of Alabama theaters, theater programs, and production resources; 2) a listing of plays by Alabama playwrights; and 3) a production resources listing of costumes, props, and set pieces available for rent or trade by other Alabama theaters.
Alabama Writers' Forum
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help produce and distribute a first-ever Alabama Literary Resources Directory of writers, writers' conferences, and schools and libraries who host visiting writers or run literary programs. The directory, to be made available later online, will help assess and increase awareness of the state's wealth of literary resources.
The Arts Council of Huntsville
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will assist the Council's MAGIC program -- Making Arts Grow in Children -- in forming a team of teachers, residency artists, education directors of arts organizations, principals, and parents to look at ways to improve or redesign this arts education program which began in the early 1980s.
This $9,000 ArtsREACH grant will bring together Design Alabama with the City of Slocomb to create a civic space for the community's heritage events and arts festivals. This high priority project was identified by an earlier economic development assessment conducted by the Alabama Power Company.
Kentuck Museum Association
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will fund a partnership among the Museum, the Arts Council of Tuscaloosa, and the City of Northport that will conduct a first county-wide survey of the visual arts to benefit artists, organizations, and the communities.
Metropolitan Arts Council
This $8,750 ArtsREACH grant will help identify and face challenges to redeveloping an entertainment district in the city center and to promoting cultural tourism. The project will include several municipal and civic groups and the Council's 35 organizational members.
Mobile Arts Council
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help form a partnership among the Arts Council, City of Mobile, Mobile County Public School System, Boys and Girls Club of Mobile, Alabama Center for Traditional Culture, Mobile Catholic Diocese, and the Mobile Education Foundation. They will gather information to strengthen the area's arts community and increase opportunities for collaboration.
Opelika Arts Association
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help restore the Historic Opelika Depot as the new arts association center and headquarters; and expand the annual spring festival by bringing it to a 300-acre historic home site owned by the City of Opelika and rural Lee County.
Space One Eleven
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help to revitalize the Metropolitan Gardens neighborhood and open a store-front laboratory for resident artists-in-training to display and sell their artwork.
Grants to Arkansas
Crawford County Art Association
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will fund a comprehensive community cultural assessment including questionnaires, focus groups and one-on-one interviews with residents. The assessment will gauge community perception of past cultural programs, identify the specific cultural needs and expectations of the community, and help create immediate and long-term plans.
Southwest Arkansas Arts Council Hope $10,000 This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will assist the Council and the city of Hope, Arkansas, in its Heritage Wall public art program. The Heritage Wall, a barrier wall separating the Union-Pacific Depot from the railroad track, honors the past by celebrating the central role that the railroad played in the evolution of Hope as a community. The wall is composed of three, 250-foot sections with sculptural metalwork and porcelain photographic tiles. Each section depicts the character and tradition of Hope, Arkansas.
Grants to Delaware
Friends of the Capitol Theater
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help revitalize Dover's 60-square-block downtown Historic District by funding a partnership among City of Dover Parks and Recreation, Sewell C. Biggs Museum of American Art, Main Street Dover, the Dover Arts Council, and the Dover Art League. Together, they will create a community cultural plan to improve the area and continue to attract visitors with arts programs.
Newark Arts Alliance
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help the Newark Alliance work with the City of Newark to address the strengths of the downtown cultural community, plan for increased community involvement, and find ways that arts and culture may contribute to current downtown redevelopment.
Office of Cultural Affairs
City of Wilmington
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will assist the Mayor and City Council of Wilmington in gathering input from residents and working in partnership with the Wilmington Arts Commission, the Arts Leaders Roundtable, Urban Environmental Center, Christina Cultural Arts Center, Opera Delaware, and Wilmington 2000. They will develop a shared vision for the arts and a cultural plan to aid the city's economic development, build community, and revitalize neighborhoods.
Sussex County Arts Council
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will fund the creation of a community cultural plan to build arts audiences, improve arts education in schools, increase multicultural programming, and help meet future community cultural needs. Partners include the Rehobeth Arts League, Possum Point Players, Second Street Players, Delaware Music School, El Centuro Cultural, the Southern Delaware Tourism and Convention Commission, and other arts organizations and individuals.
Grants to Idaho
Boise City Arts Commission
$5,000 A $5,000 ArtsREACH grant will allow the City Arts Commission of Boise to proceed with its cultural plan and help the Boise community take advantage of its art resources. With the grant, the Commission will develop, produce, and distribute the Treasure Valley Arts Resource Directory. This directory will include listings of arts groups, places, programs, and people in the Treasure Valley of Ada and Canyon Counties and provide a valuable resource to promote the arts.
Grants to Indiana
Arts Council of Indianapolis
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help more than 40 arts and civic organizations work together to create a community cultural plan and develop new arts audiences, using information from a 1997 marketing survey of why people attend arts events. Partners include: the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Association, City of Indianapolis, and Indianapolis Downtown.
Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana (ACSWI)
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help the ACSWI, in its new role as one of the Indiana Arts Commission's twelve regional granting partners, to lead the development of a community cultural plan for the seven-county, southwestern region of Indiana.
Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne
This $9,225 ArtsREACH grant will help Arts United, which provides more than $1 million a year to dozens of local, nonprofit arts organizations, to respond to shifts in private sector funding. The project will explore ways to diversify Arts United's support base, successfully solicit new donors, or prepare for flat or reduced funds in the future.
Indiana Repertory Theatre
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help the Theatre study the feasibility of touring to Evansville and Fort Wayne to increase audiences, offer arts education programs, and strengthen other local theater organizations through professional training.
Writers' Center of Indianapolis
This $8,234 ArtsREACH grant will help survey Indiana's literary resources and explore ways for the literary community to improve communication and establish a united literary arts fund.
Grants to Iowa
Community Drama Association of Des Moines
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help support a plan to identify, support, preserve, and present the art forms of newer immigrant and refugee cultures of Des Moines -- including Vietnamese, Hmong, Laotian, Bosnian and Sudanese. Partners include the Iowa Arts Council, the Bureau of Refugee Services, and the Society of Thaidam-American Friendship.
Des Moines Art District
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help support a city-wide assessment to provide information about establishing an arts district as part of a downtown revitalization project. Partners include the City of Des Moines, Metro Arts Alliance, Very Special Arts Iowa, Downtown Partnership, Court Avenue Association, and the Iowa Arts Council.
Henry A. Wallace Birthplace Foundation
This $8,983 ArtsREACH grant will help support Greenfield Arts Programming, a series of after-school artist residencies for children and adults that is part of the city's Cultural Awareness and Enhancement Plan. Partners include: Main Street Greenfield, Greenfield School District, the E.E. Warren Opera House Restoration Committee, and the Greenfield United Methodist Church.
Iowa Assembly of Local Arts Agencies
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help selected communities participate in the first year of a three-year project called the Community Arts Initiative, which will explore ways to use the arts as a tool for community development. Partners include the Iowa Assembly of Local Arts Agencies, the Iowa Arts Council, Department of Cultural Affairs, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Rural Development.
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help support a residency program at the Paul Engle Center for the Neighborhood Arts. National, regional, and local artists will work with Wellington Heights residents through the performing arts, poetry, and photography, and share art works with the public. Partners include the City of Cedar Rapids, the Wellington Heights Neighborhood Association, and the Mid-America Housing Partnership.
Grants to Kansas
Cowley County Community College
A $9,220 ArtsREACH grant will help a coalition build local arts participation through public forums, a directory of regional artists, and a marketing campaign. Partners include: Southwestern College, Arkansas City Arts Council, Winfield Arts and Humanities, Arkansas City Convention and Visitor's Bureau, Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Winfield Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
Pelathe Community Resource Center (formerly the Indian Center of Lawrence)
An $8,225 ArtsREACH grant will help assess area needs, strengthen leadership, and increase resources to better serve a diverse regional Native American population with over 150 tribal affiliations. Partners include: KanArts, Lawrence Indian Education Programs, and the Haskell Foundation.
Lawrence Arts Center
A $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help develop a cultural tourism plan for Lawrence to increase tourism through an initiative to benefit more than 70 arts organizations, artists, and the community. Partners include the Lawrence Community Theatre, the Lawrence Visitors and Convention Bureau, The Lied Center of Kansas, the Museum of Anthropology, and the Spencer Museum of Art.
Lucas Arts and Humanities Council
A $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support visual arts exhibitions at the Grassroots Art Center featuring "Outsider" regional artists whose work is an integral part of the cultural, historical and architectural past of Lucas. The Center will partner with city and county governments, planning and economic development offices, the Kansas Arts Commission, and the Garden of Eden -- which already houses a nationally significant "Outsider Art" collection.
Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra Association
An $8,225 ArtsREACH grant will develop unified information about cultural resources and encourage collaboration among the area's many museums, historical groups, and performing and visual arts associations. With partners including the Newton Fine Arts Association, the Tri-County Foundation, and the Newton Tourism and Convention Bureau, the Association will lead the effort to offer the region's cultural riches to more residents.
Grants to Mississippi
ArtsAlliance of Jackson & Hinds County
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will continue cooperative planning to establish an arts district that will include new facilities to improve working space Ü performance, rehearsal, and office -- for local arts groups, artists, and staff.
Mississippi Cultural Crossroads
This $8,970 ArtsREACH grant will help foster a dialogue with Port Gibson community members Ü including business, education and industrial leaders -- to build understanding of the value of cultural experiences, address residents' cultural needs, and share Cultural Crossroads success stories. High school and college students will conduct interviews, compile data and draft the report.
Yoknapatawpha Arts Council
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help assess and create a plan for meeting the cultural needs of Oxford and Lafayette County residents and increase participation in existing arts programs. Partners include a diverse cross-section of the community: Taylor Arts (a rural art gallery), the Oxford Tourism Council, the University of Mississippi Art, Theater and Music Departments, Theatre Oxford, OxTales Community Arts, and the Oxford Development Association.
Grants to Montana
This $6,250 ArtsREACH grant will assist the communities of Bozeman and Livingston in strengthening and preserving existing cultural resources by helping arts organizations forge new partnerships with non-arts groups, build audiences, promote cultural tourism, and share resources.
Montana Dance Arts Association
This $5,000 ArtsREACH grant will fund a statewide survey of dance resources and grassroots dance education programs including a list of schools that partner with professional dancers or dance schools to teach dance. The survey will also look at the availability of performance and rehearsal space and other needs to form a plan to make dance more accessible throughout Montana.
Montana Indian Art & Culture Association
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help bring together leaders and artists from the Crow, Northern Cheyenne, Blackfeet, Gros Ventre, and Meti tribes Ü many who live in rural areas and do not have vehicles or telephones -- to promote Native art and offer training or other economic development opportunities. The initiative will support a statewide inventory of five tribal communities' cultural resources (artists and their art forms, artworks, and presenting abilities) and produce a plan to present various art forms to a wider audience.
Performing Arts League
This $3,000 ArtsREACH grant will support the creation of a community cultural plan to help cultural organizations work together to advance the quality and availability of the arts in the Choteau community. Partners include: Old Trail Museum, Teton Development Corporation, Best Western Stage Stop Inn, The Foothills Woman, Roxy Theater, Choteau Public Library, Choteau Public Schools, and Teton Medical Center.
Tobacco Valley Improvement Association, Board of Art
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support a community cultural assessment and plan to help this changing region advance the arts and preserve the local cultural heritage. Partners include Sunburst Community Services Foundation, Eureka Public Schools, the Economic Development Council, and Tobacco Valley Families in Partnership.
Yellowstone Regional Development Company
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support a community cultural assessment to help arts organizations revitalize the downtown area, meet the needs of developing youth, and address other challenges identified in the survey. Partners include: the City of Billings, Alberta Bair Theater, Billings Symphony, Moss Mansion, Parmly Billings Library, Western Heritage Center, Downtown Billings Partnership, Montana State University-Billings, Western Technology Partners, and Yellowstone County.
Grants to Nebraska
Omaha Theater Company
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support the Latino Repertory Theater Project, a culmination of the efforts of numerous arts and Latino organizations in Omaha. The project will develop Latino performing arts, meet community cultural needs, and encourage the Omaha community to identify and consider important Latino issues. Partners include: the Nebraska Arts Council, United Arts Omaha, Chicano Awareness Center, El Museo Latino, the Department of Chicano Studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Multicultural Service at Creighton University, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Human Community Relations at Omaha Public Schools, Juan Diego Center for Women in Crisis or Transition, Latino Forum, El Mercardo Corporation, and Omaha Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
West Nebraska Arts Center
This $6,915 ArtsREACH grant will help identify the cultural needs of the Western Nebraska Panhandle. Funds will be used to expand and adapt existing organizations, programs, and services to satisfy the expectations of area communities including Scottsbluff and Gering. Partners include: Valley Voices, Scottsbluff Concert Association, Theatre West, and Western Nebraska Community College.
Grants to Nevada
Allied Arts Council of Southern Nevada
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support a community-wide marketing and advertising campaign to promote the arts in southern Nevada to visitors, and long-time and new residents. Partners include: Clark County, and the City of Las Vegas.
City of Reno
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support a community cultural plan to strengthen the identity of, and support for, major cultural institutions in downtown Reno, better serving residents and tourists. Partners include: the Sierra Arts Foundation, Nevada Opera, Reno Philharmonic, Reno Sparks Theater Coalition, the Downtown Improvement Association, and Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency.
Grants to North Dakota
Lake Agassiz Arts Council
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support the creation of a community cultural plan to increase the number of arts organizations in the four-city Fargo-Moorhead area, address growing competition for operations money, and find opportunities to collaborate. Partners include: the Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre, the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony, the Fargo Theatre, and the Plains Art Museum.
North Dakota Arts Alliance
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support a state-wide cultural assessment to identify potential collaborations and partnerships among public, private and non-profit organizations that conduct cultural programs or enhance community development through the arts. Partners include: the North Dakota State University Extension Service, Greater North Dakota Association, Statewide Development Corporation, and the North Dakota League of Cities.
North Valley Arts Council
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help create a community cultural plan which will promote downtown Grand Forks as an arts and cultural district as part of the post-1997 flood economic development strategy. Partners include: the River Forks Commission, Downtown Development Commission, Central Business District, and the Historic Preservation Commission.
City of Pekin
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support the creation of a community cultural plan to address the continued growth and diversity of the annual Pekin Art Show and study the feasibility of renovating an auditorium into a year-round cultural center. Partners include: the Dakota Prairie School, Four Wind Community School, Pekin Park Board, Pekin Historical Society, Pekin Community Center Board, Belle Isle Museum, Pekin American Legion, North Dakota Council on the Arts, and the North Dakota and U.S. Forest Services.
Grants to Oklahoma
Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support a partnership to assess arts and humanities resources, identify arts education specialists, and assist local public schools in meeting arts learning objectives. Partners include the Indian Nations Council of Governments, Tulsa Public Schools, the Higher Education Cultural Roundtable, and the Corporate Roundtable for Arts in Education.
Arts Council of Oklahoma City
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support a baseline study of the economic impact of the arts in Oklahoma City. With decreased arts funding and increased interest in arts and tourism, this study will an important element in the Central Oklahoma Cultural Plan. Partners include: the Allied Arts Foundation, Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Oklahoma.
Fine Arts Institute of Edmond
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support the creation of a community cultural plan to develop short- and long-term strategies to advance the arts in Edmond. An initial assessment will identify artists and existing cultural resources, determine the community's cultural needs, explore the feasibility of an arts center, and develop strategies for making Edmond "artist-friendly" through a city budget for public art and arts activities. Partners include: the City of Edmond, Edmond Board of Education, Edmond Arts & Humanities Council, Edmond Art Association, Edmond Economic Development Authority, Edmond Chamber of Commerce, Edmond Historical Society, Edmond Neighborhood Alliance, University of Central Oklahoma, Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park, and Tomorrow's Edmond Visioning.
Grants to Rhode Island
This $9,800 ArtsREACH grant will support a community cultural assessment to inventory and develop a resource directory of artists, arts organizations, presenting venues, studio space, and arts-related retail and service businesses in Providence's Arts and Entertainment District. The directory will be posted on the city's Web site. Partners include: the Mayor's Arts Implementation Task Force and the City of Providence Office of Planning and Development.
Rhode Island State Council on the Arts
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support a state-wide community cultural plan to make the arts an important component of the state's education improvement initiatives for kindergarten through grade 12. Partners include: the Rhode Island Department of Education and the Rhode Island Alliance for Arts Education.
Trinity Repertory Company
This $8,000 ArtsREACH grant will support a state-wide community cultural plan consisting of town meetings to foster better working relationships between artists, businesses, and organizations within the state's arts industry. The plan will identify cultural tourism strategies, and explore opportunities for collaboration and sharing resources. Partners include: the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra, Perishable Theatre, AS 220; Providence Performing Arts Center, Providence Black Repertory Company, Groundwerx Dance Theatre, the Mayor's Arts Implementation Task Force, and the Rhode Island Convention Center Authority.
Grants to South Carolina
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support an assessment of the cultural resources and needs of Beaufort County and an arts economic impact study to advance the area's arts programs and update the County's comprehensive plan. Partners include: the Town of Port Royal, Greater Beaufort Chamber of Commerce, Beaufort Country School District, City of Beaufort, the Arts Council of Beaufort Country, and NationsBank.
Arts Council of Greenwood County
This $7,500 ArtsREACH grant will support the creation of a community cultural plan which will include a needs assessment and feasibility study for a multi-use community arts space for performance and arts education. The cultural plan follows up on the interest in the arts shown during a recent county-wide planning process related to all aspects of the community. Partners include: the Greenwood Museum, Greenwood Community Theatre, Greenwood Artists Guild, and Greenwood County.
Arts Council Marion County
This $8,000 ArtsREACH grant will support the creation of a comprehensive community cultural plan to advance the arts in Marion County and to build a strong coalition among local arts organizations, artists, educators, local government agencies, local businesses and industry, and individuals in rural areas of the county. Partners include: Marion County Planning Department, the City of Mullins, the City of Marion, the Marion County School District, and the Marion County Medical Center.
Catawba Indian Nation
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support the development of a video about the culture of the Catawba Indian Nation including its special relationship to the landscape, for educational agencies, citizens' groups, chambers of commerce, and the Catawba Cultural Center. Tribal representatives will help oversee the video's production. Partners include: the York County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Tri-County School Districts, South Carolina Arts Commission, Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Districts, Rock Hill Chamber of Commerce Winthrop University, and both Rock Hill and South Carolina Parks, Recreation and Tourism Divisions.
Cultural Council of Richland & Lexington Counties
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support a comprehensive community cultural plan for the rapidly growing Midlands of South Carolina, examining new roles for the arts in education, downtown renewal and regional planning; and considering arts funding, cultural diversity and public arts issues. Partners include: the Mayor's Task Force, South Carolina Arts Commission, University of South Carolina, Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Greater Columbia Convention Bureau, River Alliance, and 85 arts organizational members of the Cultural Council.
Rock Hill Arts Council
This $3,875 ArtsREACH grant will support a feasibility study for creating a new performing arts space, reviewing the needs of expanding performing arts organizations and the community. Partners include: the Rock Hill Community Theater, Arts Council & Development Corporation, and the York County Ballet Company.
Grants to South Dakota
Aberdeen Area Arts Council
This $7,500 ArtsREACH grant will support a community cultural plan, including an assessment of cultural organizations, community needs, and an action plan to strengthen and stabilize the community's arts organizations. Partners include: the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce, Aberdeen Parks, Recreation & Forestry Dept., Aberdeen public and parochial schools, Aberdeen Community Theatre, Presentation College, and Northern State University.
City of Vermillion
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support the creation of a community cultural plan to help Vermillion preserve its historic and cultural legacy; the plan will address arts education, collaborations among cultural organizations, cultural diversity, facilities, accessibility, artists support, and financial needs. Partners include: Clay County Commission, W.H. Over Museum, University of South Dakota and its Institute of America Indian Studies, Vermillion Public Schools, Vermillion Chamber of Commerce, and the Vermillion Development Company.
Mitchell Area Arts Council
This $5,000 ArtsREACH grant will support the creation of a community cultural plan to strengthen relationships among community cultural organizations and gain stronger financial support of cultural activities from private and government agencies. Partners include: the Middle Border Museum of American Indian & Pioneer Life, Mitchell Public Library, ACT, Mitchell Historic Preservation Commission, and the Soukup & Thomas International Balloon & Airship Museum.
Rapid City Fine Arts Council, Inc.
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support Adolescents Recovering Traditions Together (ARTT). ARTT is a collaborative project using artist-mentors to teach activities of traditional Lakota culture including dancing, drumming, theater, as well as computer graphics and visual arts to help offer opportunities to Native American youth.
Short Grass Arts Council
This $3,000 ArtsREACH grant will support the creation of a community cultural plan. The process will include an assessment and collaborative planning to strengthen and stabilize community arts organizations, find collaborative opportunities with local community groups, and raise the public visibility of the arts in the community. Partners include: the City of Pierre and the Pierre Chamber of Commerce.
Sioux Empire Arts Council
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support the creation of a community cultural plan. Through this process, participants expect to integrate the arts into Sioux Falls' plans for downtown revitalization and to create more cultural opportunities for residents and visitors. Partners include: the Washington Pavilion of Arts & Science, Sioux Falls Area Foundation, Civic Fine Arts Center, Forward Sioux Falls, US Bank, and the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce.
Spearfish Center of the Arts and Humanities
This $3,500 ArtsREACH grant will support a community cultural plan to serve growing audiences and local citizens through more coordination and leadership of local arts groups and inclusion of the arts in community development. The Spearfish Center of the Arts and Humanities is the result of a recent merger of the Matthews Opera House Society (an historic theater) and the Spearfish Area Council on the Arts. Project partners include: the Black Hills State University, City of Spearfish, Spearfish Chamber of Commerce, Spearfish School District, and the Black Hills Passion Play.
Grants to Tennessee
Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help five Hamilton County elementary schools gather and share information on "best practices" in arts education through the Arts in Education Partnership Initiative. Allied Arts will work with the Hamilton County Department of Education and the Arts in Education Task Force, a coalition of arts organizations, to assess resources, help staff, and make the arts part of school curricula.
Arts Council of Greater Kingsport
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help make the arts a part of Vision 2017, a strategic plan developed by Kingsport citizens. The goal is to strengthen the arts and culture of Kingsport, review existing conditions, set community priorities, and discover the potential for arts-related growth. Partners include Kingsport City Schools, the Symphony Orchestra Association, the Downtown Kingsport Association, the City of Kingsport, Kingsport Tomorrow, and representatives of Eastman Chemical Company and other businesses.
Austin Peay State University for the Center for Creative Arts
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will assist a coalition in conducting an inventory and economic impact study of local arts and culture. This information will form the basis of a cultural plan for Clarksville-Montgomery County. Partners include the Mid-Cumberland Arts League, the Clarksville-Montgomery County Museum, Montgomery County Historical Society, the Tourism Commission, the Clarksville-Montgomery Economic Development Council, the Montgomery County Planning Commission, and the City of Clarksville/Main Street.
Johnson City Area Arts Council
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will support a broad-based cultural assessment for the five county Johnson City area that will increase local participation in arts and cultural activities. Partners include the Johnson City Development Authority, the Public Library, Parks and Recreation, the State University Music Department, First Tennessee Bank, Northeast Tennessee Tourism Association, the Washington County Juvenile Court, the Black Ministers Alliance of Johnson City, and others.
Nite Lite Theatre
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help create a collaborative community cultural plan that combines the region's cultural, historic, and agricultural resources into a major cultural development initiative for Gibson County. The West Tennessee Regional Arts Center, the Agricultural Center, and ten towns will form the coalition.

Alta Community Enrichment
This $7,225 ArtsREACH grant will help a 17-member partnership of local resorts, businesses, education and arts organizations to create a plan promoting the unique cultural aspects of this small, recreation resort town located in Little Cottonwood Canyon in the Wasatch-Catche National Forest. Together, they will also explore how the arts can contribute to economic and social life.
Granite School District
Salt Lake City
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help the Granite School District implement the Action Research Plan to measure the impact of dance education and make dance more available within the District. Partners include Twin Peaks and Woodstock Elementary Schools, Bonneville Junior High, Cottonwood High School, the Utah Arts Council, the University of Utah, and the Repertory Dance Theatre.
Ogden City Arts
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help develop a Public Arts Master Plan to coordinate the purpose and placement of public art in Ogden City. As part of the city's overall cultural plan, the public art segment will be an initiative of the City Planning Department and Design Arts Subcommittee, with input from the Department of Visual Arts at Weber State University, architects, artists, and arts organizations.
Park City Foundation for Arts & Humanities
This $8,750 ArtsREACH grant will assist the Park City area, which houses a major ski resort, in preparing for the challenge of hosting the upcoming Winter Olympics by seeking arts-based solutions. Partners include the Park City Municipal Corporation, the Planning Commission of Summit County, the Egyptian Theater, Kimball Arts Center, Park City International Music Festival, the Utah Arts Council, and the Park City Foundation for Arts & Humanities.
Grants to West Virginia
This $7,500 ArtsREACH grant will help implement part of a cultural plan to develop a cultural district in the downtown Parkersburg, find better ways to use existing spaces, and assist local arts organizations in sharing strategies for audience development. Partners include: Smott Theatre, Schrader Youth Ballet, Mid-Ohio Valley Ballet, Actors Guild, Parkersburg Arts Center, Oil & Gas Museum, and Blinnerhassett Museum.
Morgantown Chamber of Commerce
This $4,000 ArtsREACH grant will support an assessment to determine the community impact of programming of the Creative Arts Center of West Virginia University. This assessment will help identify strategies to strengthen and maintain the effectiveness of the University's arts programs. Partners include: the West Virginia University and the Citizens Bank of Morgantown.

Campbell County Public Land Board
This $7,500 ArtsREACH grant will support "Reliving Our Heritage, A Celebration of the Millennium," a two year residency program which will bring together youth and seniors to gather and share stories that will culminate in a public performance. Partners include the CAMPLEX Heritage Center and the Campbell County School District.
City of Cheyenne
This $6,750 ArtsREACH grant will support a partnership among the Greater Cheyenne Cultural Arts Coalition, the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, and Laramie County which will explore ways to strengthen the community's arts resources and develop a region-wide cultural plan.
Cultural Council of Jackson Hole
This $5,000 ArtsREACH grant will expand the pARTners program, which will assist teachers and principals of the Teton County School District in using the arts, artists, and artistic resources to encourage learning.
Community Center for the Arts
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will help create a four-acre Arts Center in downtown Jackson that will house a 500-seat theater, dance studios, rehearsal space, art galleries and classrooms. Partners include the Jackson Hole Chorale, Community Visual Arts Association, Mainstage Theater, Dancers' Workshop, Teton County, the Town of Jackson Hole, and Teton County School District #1.
Gillette-Campbell County Airport
This $5,300 ArtsREACH grant will help local youth and graphic artist Harvey Jackson complete a mural in the airport which is part of "A Portrait of the Powder River Basin and Its People," a larger exhibition program. Partners include: Prairie Lights Art Guild, Powder River Coal, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, and the Campbell County School District.
Sheridan County YMCA
This $10,000 ArtsREACH grant will assist the YMCA, the WYO Theater, the Civic Theater Guild, Tandem Productions, Fulmer Public Library, Sheridan Arts Council, School District #2, and the Senior Center in developing a partnership to share facilities and resources.
